International Study of Education and Learning
The Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) is a study supervised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in partnership with participating countries, international teachers’ unions, recognized research centers in the field of education and vocational training, as well as the European Commission. It is the largest international study focused on teachers and their working conditions. This study allows for comparisons between the educational systems of participating countries by giving teachers and school principals the opportunity to express their views on their educational practices and professional working conditions. A significant amount of data is collected in this study through questionnaires completed by both teachers and school principals.
Morocco is participating for the first time, alongside more than fifty countries, in the International Study of Education and Learning overseen by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), led jointly by the National Body for Evaluation at the Higher Council for Education, Training, and Scientific Research and the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports.
Data on participation
The targeted sample includes approximately 20,000 teachers, nearly 400 primary school principals, and 400 middle school principals. Additionally, around 2,500 educators and administrators in nearly 500 preschool units are included. It is worth noting that educational institutions were selected based on types of education (public/private) from all regions of Morocco, ensuring coverage of both urban and rural areas, as well as institutions in the informal sector and those with partnerships in preschool education, to achieve national representation by region.
